NSAI’s National Metrology Laboratory is hosting the annual EURAMET Technical Committee Meeting for Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration (TC-AUV) on April 23rd and 24th 2024.
The focus of this Technical Committee covers:
- Sound in Air
- Vibration
- Ultrasound
- Underwater Acoustics
The results of TC-AUV's work are key for areas such as industrial applications, healthcare or environmental protection.
This meeting, which takes place at NSAI’s Headquarters in Dublin, will bring together experts from 25 European countries to discuss key developments in Sound Measurements in Air, Underwater Acoustics, Ultrasound/Medical Ultrasound and Vibration Techniques.
As members of TC-AUV, many of the delegates also participate in the development of new global standards with their counterparts in other Regional Metrological Organisations in each field. To do so, they are involved in multi-disciplinary research and key comparisons between National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) within EURAMET and with NMIs across the globe.

The output of this research is then reviewed by the BIPM’s Consultative Committee for Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration and often forms part of new or revised standards (https://www.bipm.org/en/ & https://www.bipm.org/en/committees/cc/ccauv).
The group has also been involved in European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR) projects which have resulted in advancements in measurement techniques in each subject field.
