The new national maximum taxi fare order came into effect on the 1st December 2024.

To avoid any loss of trade, all taxi meters must have an approved fare program installed and calibrated and the taximeter verified. Taximeter calibration is completed by a private taximeter installer of the licence holder’s choice.

Taximeter programmers, retailers and installers are private commercial operations. They are not licensed nor regulated by NTA or NSAI’s Legal Metrology Service.

Verification of the taximeter is completed through the NSAI's Authorised Verifier – Applus. To book, please phone (01) 413 5951 - telephone lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Verification tests cannot be carried out without a Taximeter Trader Information (TTI) form, which is issued by your installer. Taxi licence holders must bring their electronic TTI form with them, when attending their verification test with Applus.
